Can’t Sleep

For some reason I fell asleep while watching a movie this afternoon. So I took a nap for a couple of hours. I’m not feeling sick or anything – I have no idea why I fell asleep. I guess the movie was pretty bad! But now I can’t sleep and here it is after 2:00 am and I’m sitting at home bored out of my mind.

Major Earthquake

There was a major earthquake in Chile. So soon after the terrible devastation from a major earthquake in Haiti is very disconcerting. The loss of life was tremendous in Haiti – over 100,000 people died. But early reports from the 8.8 quake in Chile is more hopeful – less than 100 have died. Chile gets a lot of credit for having tough building codes and being better prepared to deal with earthquakes than Haiti.

Bills Bills Bills

The cold weather is taking its toll on our heating bill. The bill for December just came today and it is almost $400. At this rate, all the utility bills added together are now higher each month than the mortgage payment. So even when I get this house paid off it is going to cost me a lot of money to keep the lights on and the water flowing.

Baseball

Baseball has always been a big part of our lives, our first date was to a baseball game in Arizona. We have went to games in St Louis and Chicago in the last few years and I want to go to more. I am a huge St Louis Cardinals fan and I would go to the end of the earth to see a Cards game. My wife loves the part of the game that has to do with the tight pants they players wear and he also like to travel so she is the perfect companion to go with me to a baseball game. Go Cards!

Vacation

Our family has long planned a repeat trip to the Chattanooga Aquarium to take our grandson back. We took him to the aquarium a few months ago and he loved it. This trip we will have more time and be able to see more than we did on our first trip. The first time we had to rush to see as much as we could before they closed up for the night. This time we will leave earlier and take our time and have a way more relaxed time. That will be a lot more fun and I can not wait for this trip it will be a blast for this old man.

Grill time

I grew up in a family that did not grill out at all. Now I like my food from the grill about as good as anything you can cook on a stove. We even grill in the rain and even in the snow a few times, we use our grill year riound and a little cold will not keep us from lighting the grill at all. Tonight I have some bone in rib eye steaks to put on the grill and I can not wait they will be very tasty and will be ready in a few minutes.

Trees

The one thing I noticed when I moved to Tennessee from Oklahoma was all of the trees. We just do not have as many or as big a trees in the hearland. You can not see anything in the summer for all the trees and it is a real pain in the butt to try and get anywhere by landmarks when they are all covered up by the dang trees. I carry a chain saw with me everywhere and I use it when needed to see what I am looking for, dad gum trees, they are everywhere.

I spend a lot of time sitting at my computer and finding new music to listen to has laways been a tough job for me. I always wind up listing to old music the new music does nothing for me and it is a nasty job to sort through all the junk to find good new music, give me Bob Seger any day. I just dismiss any new stuff till it has been on the radio for a couple of years then I will try it out, maybe.
