Happy Birthday

Posted: under Family, Holidays, Life.

Today is my baby sisters birthday and I wanted to wish her a big happy birthday. We grew up in a very poor but loving family and birthdays meant a cake and a hug most years. I have tried to make every birthday special for everyone in my family and I am sending my sister a gift certificate to Outback I know that she loves to eat there but never goes because money is tight so I know she will appreciate the gift card. i love my sister and want her to have a very nice birthday.

New Years Eve

Posted: under Holidays, Life.

When I was young and stupid New Years Eve was a very big party night, the fact that most of the time we did not have to work the next day was a big factor on how stupid we could get. Now most years I am in bed before 10 pm and do not know if the new year has arrived until I get out of bed to go to work. It is just another day to us and I kind of like it that way, no pressure, no hangover and biggest of all no silly trips to jail. Ya I am way for that not happening to me.

Christmas plans

Posted: under Business, Holidays.

We have to go to work early Christmas morning, and then after we sleep for a while we will pick up our grandson and let him open his presents from us. After that we are going to our sons house to eat Christmas supper, sounds like a pretty good menu for the dinner he is going to grill some steaks to me that is way better than turkey or ham for dinner. We have not bought a lot of presents for anyone this year, it has been a very tough year for us in our business, and let us hope the new year brings a rebound to the world economy.

Diet

Posted: under Food and dining, Health, Holidays.

The Holiday season always makes me feel fat and I really want to get started on a good diet this year and not fool around with putting on a lot of holiday weight. I am going to stay away from the cookies and pies and eat a lot of fruit and vegetables this year, of course I say the same thing every year. I have made it past Thanksgiving without blowing up in weight I put on one pound this year for Thanksgiving and I think I can make it through Christmas with the same weight gain I will be a happy camper. Man but those pumpkin pies look so good already.

Veterans day

Posted: under Family, Holidays.

Veterans day is a big holiday to me and my family, my father was killed in Vietnam and I have learned over the years the great agony that the families of service men suffer. I have marched in a Veterans Day Parade since I was 4 years old and I see no reason not to continue this tradition. My Dad would be proud that his daughter shows her support for the troops and for the veterans that fought in wars gone by.
